Who Needs This

Dermablate Laser is a treatment that is generally good for almost all types of skin types for a wide variety of anti-aging issues. It is suitable for a variety of skin types ranging from light to dark as it carries a lower risk of hyperpigmentation after treatment. People who suffer from acne scars, fine lines, large pores, Photoaging (advanced aging to do sun damage), scars, skin laxity and wrinkles are often very good candidates for this treatment. It is also effective for benign skin lesions such as actinic keratosis, fibromas, seborrheic warts and xanthelasma. For chronic snores, it tightens the tissue in the soft palate which reduces the throat’s airway vibrations and snoring. It is a good choice for people who want a lower downtime than that 2 week standard for many ablative lasers as healing usually takes between 3-7 days for Dermablate Laser.

How It Works

Dermablate is an Erbium:YAG fractional laser at 2940nm used for precise skin resurfacing, fine lines, enlarged pores, uneven skin texture, deep wrinkle reduction, acne scars, surgical scars, skin lesions, age spots, sunspots, superficial pigment remove and overall skin brightness and toning. It removes damaged superficial skin layers while preserving more of the surrounding tissue when compared to CO2 lasers. We do not use CO2 lasers in Korea as a fractional laser device. It is only used to remove moles, warts and other spots. It is generally too strong to use for full face resurfacing and we highly advice that you do not use C02 lasers for face rejuvenation. A device like Dermablate does not damage the skin to the point that CO2 lasers do. It shrinks enlarged pores, evens out uneven texture, reduces acne scarring, reduces sun damage, and reduces mild pigmentation. However, if your main focus is pigmentation then a pigmentation focuses treatment like Pico is better suited. The treatment is often combined with Korean Hydrafacial or BB Shine and once that is done, topical numbing cream is applied before the treatment begins.

Treatment Plans

Because Dermablate has a much shorter recover time over other ablative lasers (often 7-10 days faster), it is often combined with other treatments such as Sunny RF. The treatment can take 20-30 minutes usually to complete. It normally is not painful but afterwards, if your skin is exposed to serums or creams, it will feel very hot and slighting irradiated. LDM treatment often increases recovery effect and speed but the conducive gel used for this treatment may irradiate the skin for some patients. If you have severe sensitivity to pain, then you may want to skip LDM treatment after Dermablate Laser. Your skin will resemble a mild sunburn for up to 3-7 days. There may be light flaking as your new skin layer forms. Once your skin recovers, you will experience a noticeable difference. Often this treatment is given in stages with RF Microneedling such as Virtue RF Microneedling and Dermblate at the same time if you have lighter skin. For people with darker skin, Virtue RF Microneedling is done first then 4 weeks later Dermablate Laser and then repeat until desired effect is achieved.

Number of Treatments Needed

Dermablate Laser under Yeppeun Skin Clinic Korena protocols is usually done in 1-4 session packages as follows:

Mild, Superficial Issues: 1-2 sessions in order to improve fine lines, light pigmentation and minor texture improvements.
Major Resurfacing: 3 -4 sessions (or more) may be done for acne scars, deep wrinkles and sun damage.

Time Between Sessions

Because this kind of laser resurfaces your skin, you will need 3-6 weeks between treatments. This will allow for your skin to heal and regenerate before the next treatment.

Recovery & Downtime

For 3-7 days, your skin may have redness and possible light flaking. People with more sensitive skin may have redness for 4-7 days.

Aftercare Instructions

You can wear make-up from the next day after treatment. You will benefit from using rejuvenation cream after treatment on a daily basis. Do not exfoliate your face for one week after treatment. You must also protect yourself from UV sun exposure during a 7 day period after your treatment. If you need to go outside in the sun, wear a hat the fully covers your treated areas, a Korean style full face mask or use and umbrella that is UV protected. It is important to follow a proper skin care routine consisting of at least a cleanser, toner, serum or ampoule, cream and sunscreen. You will benefit from using rejuvenation cream for at least 1 week after treatment.
