Pico Laser Information

Who Needs This

Pico Laser is for people who have an excess of pigmentation. It can be used for tattoo removal and skin texture issues.

How It Works

Pico Laser shatters skin pigmentation through ultra short light pulses at a rate of one trillionth of a second. This force stimulates collagen and elastin production in the body. The name Pico Laser comes from the fact that the ultra-short light pulse is sent into your body at 10⁻¹² seconds which is roughly 1,000 times faster than a nanosecond which is 10⁻⁹ seconds. This is called a Picosecond. Older technologies used nanosecond pulses while Pico Laser uses Picosecond technology. The faster the speed of the light pulse, the better is breaks apart pigmentation and the better it stimulates new collagen and elastin production. This ultra-fast energy light burst is extremely dense and creates a mechanical shockwave that contains high pressure. This is called the Photoacoustic Effect. The acoustic soundwave shatters pigment into dusk like fragments at a microscopic level. There is minimal thermal damage to your skin because the pulse duration is so short. This means that the surround tissue is not exposed to significant heat and this the dermis and epidermis do not normally burn, experience necrosis or pos-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Pico Laser can use Laser-Induced Optical Breakdown (LIOB) to focus fractional optic energy to create micro wounds (also known as micro cavities or micro injuries) in the dermis and epidermis which will signal your body to produce new collagen and elastin. Your body will process the excess ultra fine dust like pigmentation through biological clearance meaning that the pigment granules and ink particles will clear them through the lymphatic system at a fast rate. Macrophange and other immune cells will absorb these pigments and clear them. It is suitable for all skin types.

Pico Laser Planning

Treatment Plans

Pico Laser’s main use if for reducing and eliminating unwanted skin pigmentation. This treatment can be done by itself or combination with other treatments. Below is a list of what the majority people require Pico Laser for:

  • Acne Scars-improves mild to moderate scars on enlarged pores caused by acne (acne scars).
  • Anti-aging-reduces fine lines, skin dullness and wrinkles. Provides more glow to your skin.
  • Skin Texture-enlarged pores often have discoloration making them look darker. This treatment fixes this issue and makes the skin’s texture look brighter and smoother.
  • Pigmentation-discoloration such as age spots, freckles, melasma, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and sunspots are reduced and removed.
  • Tattoo Removal-all kinds of colored and non-colored tattoos can be removed including stubborn green and blue tattoo ink.

Pico Laser is used often with Nobleen Genesis Laser because of the collagen toning effect. For people with Melasma or Hypermigmentation, we want to get your skin back to a base, healthy, collagen producing state. If you do Pico Laser on its own, it is good but you will need a better collagen and elastin boosting effect. We often use other brighten treatments with this procedure such as LDM in Sonophoresis Mode after Pico Laser. This is a deep penetrating ultrasound that brightens your skin when combined with brightening ampoules. This treatment is often used in combination with other treatments or on its own. It is often combined with exsosome skin boosters and other skin boosters like Juvelook, Juvederm, Rejuran (but this is painful when combined with Virtue RF) and Volite. You can also maximize the effect by combing it with Ultherapy Prime or Korean V-Laser (Doublo HIFU).
