A skin booster in Dubai is a small injection of hydrating or repairing ingredients to improve dry, dull and crepey skin.

As a Korean clinic, we often talk about Korean skin boosters, and we also look at well-known European and American options. The right choice depends on your skin, not on a brand.

Who Needs This

They are popular before a big event, or as part of a long-term skin plan. They are not designed to lift sagging skin or replace lost volume, which need different treatments. How It Works

After cleansing and numbing, the product is placed in many tiny droplets just under the skin. This can be done by hand with a fine needle or cannula, or with a device such as the Hycoox Multi Suction Injector for even spacing. Hyaluronic acid boosters draw in water to support hydration. Polynucleotide and collagen-supporting boosters are thought to support the skin’s own repair over time. Most types need a short course of sessions.

How Skin Boosters Work

There are many skin boosters, and they are not all the same. Below are the main types, with an honest look at the evidence for each. Brand names are given so you can recognize them. Which products we use will be confirmed at your consultation.

Hyaluronic Acid (HA) Skin Boosters

Hyaluronic acid is a sugar found naturally in skin that holds water. HA skin boosters use a very soft, thin form of it. Reviews of studies suggest HA boosters can improve hydration, smoothness and fine lines, although many studies are small. Results usually last about 6 to 9 months, depending on the product.

Profhilo uses a high amount of pure HA that spreads through the skin. It is usually given as 2 sessions about 4 weeks apart, using 5 small points on each side of the face. Your skin will show better firmness and skin quality.

JUVÉDERM VOLITE (known as SKINVIVE in the US) is a soft HA gel with a small amount of numbing medicine. It is well known for improving cheek skin smoothness in adults aged 21 and over. Usually the effect hits its peak after 1 month, and lasts 6-12 months.

Restylane Skin Boosters are soft HA gels designed for hydration and fine lines on the face, neck, chest and hands. They are usually given as a short course of sessions.

Polynucleotide (PN) Skin Boosters: REJURAN

REJURAN is a Korean skin booster made from polynucleotides, or PN. These are purified fragments of DNA taken from salmon. PN is thought to support the skin’s natural repair and hydration. PN is related to PDRN, but they are not the same ingredient. PDRN is a less powerful version.

There are three main versions. REJURAN Healer is the classic version for the face. REJURAN i is thinner and is used for delicate areas such as around the eyes. REJURAN S is more concentrated and is used for uneven texture and scars. In a controlled trial for crow’s feet, REJURAN worked about as well as an HA booster, but not better. A smaller study found better hydration and smoothness. Overall, the evidence is promising but still limited. Small raised bumps are common for a day or two.

PLA and HA Skin Boosters: JUVELOOK

JUVELOOK is a Korean product that combines HA with tiny particles of PDLLA, a material that the body slowly breaks down. The HA gives early hydration, while PDLLA is designed to support your own collagen over the following months. Early studies on skin texture, under-eye skin and smile lines look encouraging, but they are small and short. It works gradually, so patience is needed.

Exosomes

Exosomes are tiny particles released by cells that carry signals between them. They are very popular in skin care, often used on the skin after microneedling. Learn more on our Exosome Therapy page.

Collagen Boosters

Some boosters aim to support your own collagen rather than add water. Our Ultracol Collagen Booster is one example. Collagen-supporting results build slowly over a few months. For deeper support and volume, our collagen stimulator injections may be more suitable.

“Skin Botox” (Microtox)

“Skin botox”, also called microtox, means placing very small, diluted amounts of a muscle-relaxing injection into the skin itself. It is used to make pores look smaller, reduce oiliness and give a smoother look. For wrinkles, see our Botox page.

Related Treatments

Mesotherapy uses a mix of vitamins, amino acids and HA, and is a lighter option than most skin boosters. PRP uses plasma from your own blood instead of a product.

Possible Side Effects and Risks

Small bumps, redness, swelling, tenderness and bruising at the injection points are common and usually settle within 1 to 3 days. With PN boosters, small bumps may last a little longer. Rarely, infection, lumps or an allergic reaction can occur. As with any facial injection, there is a very rare risk of a blocked blood vessel.

Who Should Not Have It

Skin boosters may not be suitable if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have an active skin infection or cold sore in the area, or have a bleeding disorder. Please tell us about any allergies, including to fish, as REJURAN comes from salmon. Let us know if you have an autoimmune condition, a tendency to keloid scars or a recent filler in the same area.

Planning Your Skin Booster in Dubai

Treatment Plans

Your plan starts with a skin check to understand what your skin needs most: hydration, texture, fine lines or repair. We will suggest one type, or sometimes a mix of types across a course. We take photos at the start so we can compare your progress fairly.

Number of Sessions

Most people start with 2 to 3 sessions. Profhilo is usually 2 sessions, while REJURAN and other PN boosters are often 3 to 4. After that, maintenance is usually every 6 to 9 months, depending on the product and your skin.

Time Between Sessions

Sessions are usually spaced 2 to 4 weeks apart, depending on the product. We review your skin about 4 weeks after your last session.

In Combination With & Alternative Treatments

In Combination With

Skin boosters work well with treatments that work at a different depth. They can be combined with Botox for expression lines, with LED Light Therapy for calm skin, and with lifting treatments such as Ultherapy Prime. Our doctor will plan the order and timing.

Alternatives

Recovery & Downtime

Most people have small bumps and redness at the injection points, which usually settle within 1 to 3 days. Bruises can take up to a week to fade. Most people go back to work the same day or the next day. If you have an event coming up, plan your treatment at least 2 weeks before.

Aftercare Instructions

For the first 24 hours, don’t touch, rub or massage the treated area unless we advise it, and avoid make-up. Avoid hard exercise, saunas, steam rooms and very hot showers for 24 to 48 hours. Avoid facials, peels and laser treatments for about 2 weeks unless we plan them with you. Drink plenty of water, sleep on your back if you can for the first night, and wear sunscreen every day. Contact us if you notice growing pain, swelling, warmth, pus or any change in your vision.

Best Skin Product Ingredients for Aftercare

Keep your skin care gentle for a few days. A mild cleanser, a fragrance-free moisturiser with hyaluronic acid, ceramides or panthenol and a broad-spectrum sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher are best. Avoid retinoids, acids and scrubs for about 3 days.
