Scar Reduction Benefits
Scar treatment can soften raised, sunken or discoloured scars. At our Dubai clinic we choose the method for your scar type.
Key Benefits
- Improves you Skin Texture by resurfacing your skin layer
- Improves your Skin Tone and brightness by reducing melanin often caused by sunspots or melasma.
- Reduces Acne Scars which can include atrophic (box scars), depressed, rolling etc.
- Reduces Fine Lines and signs.
- Reduces signs of Photoaging which is premature skin aging due to UV (ultraviolet) light exposure and the sun’s radiation. Exposure to solar radiation and UV light breaks down cellular dermal proteins, thus altering your DNA in a negative manner facing your skin look older than its real (chronological) age. In fact, between 80%-90% of visible skin aging is caused by photoaging.
- Reduces Pore Size and helps improve skin texture.
Scar Reduction Information
Who Needs This
People who suffer from a combination of facial scarring, enlarged pores, excess pigmentation, rapid skin aging and uneven skin texture and tone are candidates for this procedure. Often people who have acne scars (atrophic acne scars like boxcar scars, depressed acne scars, rolling acne scars and more) are great candidates for this treatment as those scars often carry pigmentation issues as well.
How It Works
Dermablate Laser and Pico MLA (Mirco Lense Array) Mode combination treatment under Yeppeun Skin Clinic Korean protocols uses a combination of Asclepion Dermablate ablative Eribium: YAG (Er:YAG) laser technology and non-ablative Pico MLA Mode systems to resurface depressions while removing pigmentation.
The ablative portion of the treatment uses Dermablate Laser on full or fractional 2,940 nm wavelength to precisely vaporize microscopic epidermal layers to elevate acne scars (and other types of scars), improve wrinkles and reduce pigmentation usually caused by sun damage. Cold ablation is used to remove damaged tissue while hot (thermal or coagulation) ablation is control skin damage and stimulate collagen production. The ablative part of the treatment can also be changed to Thermal Mode (Non-Ablative Mode) which can warm the underlying tissue for people with sensitive skin as it does not remove the surface layer of the skin but in most cases, ablative treatment has higher efficacy.
The non-ablative part of the treatment involves using Pico MLA Mode to create laser-induced optical breakdown (LIOB) of the dermis to reduce and remove excess pigmentation. The technology sends picosecond focused energy in the created mirco bubbles. The energy vaporizes the excess pigmentation in those spaces without damaging the outer layer of the skin (the dermis). Your body will then have a natural healing response boost which will stimulate collagen and elastin production to remodel your skin from the inside outwards.
Treatment Plans
This combination treatment of Dermablate Laser and Pico MLA is usually done on its own without other heavy treatments but it can be combined treatments that cleanse and hydrate the skin deeply such as Korean Hydrafacial, LDM and BB Shine.
Number Sessions
The number of sessions you need depends on how severe your case is. To determine this properly you will need an in-clinic consultation with our doctor. However, below is a guideline for possible session types:
- 1 session for minor cases that require small improvements.
- 2-3 sessions for intermediary cases that require deeper treatment.
- 4-5 sessions for more severe cases that require extensive treatment.
Time Between Sessions
- 4-6 weeks between Dermablate Laser + Pico MLA is often recommended.
Recovery & Downtime
This treatment is meant for people who have a combination of pigmentation, scarring and who are aging at a faster rate than they should be. The treatment can be quite strong because of the ablative portion. Thus, plan your face being mildly red for 2-7 days depending on your case. This is actually a much faster recovery time than other treatments such as CO2 fractional laser that harshly burns the top layer of the skin and has a much longer recovery process.
Aftercare Instructions
- Protect yourself from the sun always by using proper sunscreen as recommended by our doctor and reapplying every few hours.
- Use a sun umbrella with UV protection for the first week after treatment and preferably use it always so you avoid excess sun damage
- Avoid places with excess heat for 2-3 days such as the sauna, hot yoga or strenuous exercise
- You can put on makeup from the next day
- Do not but on any creams besides what we give you on the day of treatment
Investment Needed
Scar reduction is usually AED 999-2999 depending on the complexity and length of the scar.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why combine Dermablate and Pico rather than using only one device?
A: Many scars possess both textural and pigmentary components. Addressing both dimensions usually produces a more balanced and satisfactory overall result.
Q: How many sessions does a typical Scar Care Package include?
A: Plans commonly involve three to five combined or sequenced sessions. A clear, individualized roadmap is provided after assessment.
Q: Is this package limited to acne scars?
A: It is most frequently used for acne scarring, yet it can also benefit selected surgical or traumatic scars. Suitability is confirmed during consultation.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can scars be removed completely?
A: Usually they can be improved, not fully removed.
How long should I wait after surgery?
A: Ask your surgeon. Many scars are treated once healed, often after a few months.
Which scars respond best?
A: Sunken acne scars and discoloured scars often respond well to a course of treatment.
